trump has escalated his authoritarian gambit. He publicly declared that Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson “should be in jail. Not for crimes. But for refusing to accept his federal invasion of National Guard troops and ICE agents. A refusal we know every MAGA governor in America would make under any other president.

This is an overt attempt to criminalize dissent, shatter local authority, and normalize the idea that any elected opponent who defies trump’s agenda can be hauled off in handcuffs.

This is NOT a normal swing of the political pendulum. It’s a full-on crisis of rising authoritarianism. This is the death rattle of democracy.

When trump calls for the jailing of elected officials and floods blue cities with troops, it’s a dangerous power play meant to normalize fear, enforce division, and suppress dissent. In a time when algorithms keep us trapped in separate “realities,” we’re losing democracy faster than we realize.
