The National Guard is made up of your mail carriers, shop workers, teachers, coaches, neighbors. Now they’re being ripped out of their daily lives to fight an imaginary enemy. Or worse, to incite the civil conflict that many fear is the start of Civil War 2.0. Texas Gov. Abbott is sending 400 troops into Chicago in league with trump under the guise of “protecting federal property.” But let’s call it what it is: fascism.

Here’s the truth: Los Angeles, Chicago, Portland — they’re thriving cities, not “war zones.” The only battlefield is in trump’s head. He lies because division is his currency. And America’s so divided that even the hemispheres of our brains don’t talk to each other anymore. That’s on all of us. We let it get this far. We’re the only ones who can fix it. But only if we are willing.
